Verna Pittillo Lambert, age 82, passed away with peace and grace on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.
Verna was born in Asheboro in 1934 to Charles and Myrtie Lewallen Pittillo. Verna was retired from Energizer Battery after 29 years of service. She was a member of the New Salem United Methodist Church, and participated in the UMW organization for many years. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest passion was helping others. She spent many years tenderly caring for her mother, Aunt Grace and sister Margaret.
She loved her flower garden, enjoyed quilting, reading, and traveling to the mountains and the beach. Her canines Kaylee and Holly gave her much joy and comfort.
She is survived by her husband, E.L. Lambert; sons, Richard Hammond and wife Sheila of Asheboro, Philip Hammond and wife Diane of Greenville, SC, daughter, Susan Rosevelt and husband Dave of Dexter, Michigan; step son Mark Lambert and wife Sylvia of Huntsville, AL; step daughter LeAnn Langley of Franklinville; 8 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; brother, Jim Pittillo and wife Pat of Asheboro, sisters, Betty Haney of Tuskseesea, and Nancy Suggs and husband Dennis of Columbia, SC. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Myrtie Pittillo, brother Tommy Pittillo, and sister, Margaret Pittillo.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joyce Bunn and Rev. Bob Shackleford officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will also receive friend afterwards and their home.
