Jennifer Robbins Causey, age 71, passed away unexpectedly at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit of UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC Tuesday, January 9, 2018.
Jennifer was born on July 25, 1946 in Asheboro, NC to the late James Willard Robbins of Randleman, NC and Evelyn Visotsky Robbins of Passaic, NJ. Raised in Randleman, she graduated from Randleman High School in 1964 and was voted the "Friendliest Person" by her class. She attended Asheboro Business College where she studied secretarial skills. Jennifer met her future husband, William "Bill" Mitchell Causey, Jr., while cruisin' with her best friend, Sandra Yow Cooke, at the local McDonalds. After a courtship of three years, they married in the Randleman First Baptist Church upon his graduation from UNC-CH. They initially lived in Greensboro, NC until Bill joined the Army as an officer. Shortly after enlisting, Bill was sent to Vietnam. During that time, Jennifer worked as an event coordinator at the Holiday Inn in Greensboro. Jennifer and Bill moved 19 times and lived on three different continents during the 27 years he was in the Army. Her charming, sassy personality drew people to her, and built long lasting relationships. She was visited by a friend she made in Germany this past summer and welcomed old friends from Australia last year. When Bill retired from the Army in 1996 they remained in Fayetteville until 2005. Jennifer enjoyed her daily walks with her neighbor, Barbara Dietrich. When Bill's work drew him to Sanford and her mother's health declined, they ended up building their last home together on the Rocky River between Sanford and Pittsboro, NC. Jennifer visited her mother every Sunday. She enjoyed loud arguments, singing off-key, and dancing when the mood struck her.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC. The family will visit with attendees after the service.
Jennifer Causey is survived by her husband of 49 years and her sons, William Mitchell "Mitch" Causey, III and Matthew James Causey and her mother, Evelyn Robbins. She is preceded in death by her father and brother James Robbins.
