Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Online Accounts
In this computer, internet connected age most everyone has at least one and probably many online accounts that require user names and passwords. Getting Facebook posts from long departed relatives, and solicitations based on long supposedly closed accounts can be at best a nuisance but also can cause financial problems for your survivors. Make sure you have listed all your online accounts with user names and passwords and place them in a very secure place (lock box maybe). Also if there are security questions make sure they are also listed with answers because if your survivors try to close out these accounts from an unrecognized computer, they will be challenged with these security questions. As your passwords should change over time, this will need to be an ongoing task. Make yourself a schedule to do this, maybe on your birthday each year. Also, Facebook and other social media now allow you to designate an individual to be responsible to deactivate your account after your death.
